I'm really excited to announce I finally have something ON my wall.
Well, it's not up YET, but I will have something on my walls finally before the end of this week.
I've been lagging on buying anything for my walls because I don't want to punch a lot of holes in the wall.
And I haven't really been able to decide what I want on my walls.
Ignore the room colors - My house has dark brown & black wood furniture w/silver hardware over different shades of blues and lemon yellows for accent.
I wanted more cooler tones and more masculine furniture but with a hint of femininity.
So it's sort I guess you can say it's got a modern look but with a touch of country for comfort.
*The bedroom design will be a whole different story because I definitely do NOT want cooler tones there.
I haven't decorated the bedroom to the way I want it to be yet. But I will once some bills are paid off.
The bedroom will have warm tones because it's my sanctuary - if I sleep in a room with a warm feeling then I know I will have good dreams.
So back to the living room...
With that catalog wall in mind it set my mind in motion.
Originally I wanted a fairly large mirror (think 41"x81") to put horizontal behind my couch.
I thought having such a large mirror it make the condo seem bigger and wider.
But then I changed my mind after I saw the catalog picture.
Instead I purchased on sale at Target a 36" flat dark brown wood and a 24" flat dark wood shelf.
In the catalog picture it has one long white shelf. Which would be nice but I think stacking 2 different sized shelves above each other would give it a different look.
Also in the catalog the mirror is smaller - which I ended up liking the idea of a smaller mirror than a gigantic one.
And it's actually more budget friendly to get a smaller mirror.
I better state that I have a gift card worth $220 from the store Z.Gallerie.
The larger mirror is around $500+ dollars and to be honest I really didn't want to spend $200-$300 extra.
And the smaller (think 32"x44") mirrors are priced at $149-$300ish.
So the smaller mirrors are right up my ally.
My friend and I went in to the store tonight and instantly saw the mirror I wanted!
As I walked in it was staring back at me and even winked.Ok ok, maybe not, but it really caught my eye with the blue light above it.
Perfect because that's the color of my living room!
I looked at the price and it said $249 - eh - not bad that I would have to pay a few more dollars over because it's still better than paying $200+ over.
Ya know what I mean?
And then I saw it... a sign in the corner that said 20% off ALL wall art and MIRRORS.
Come again?
ADDITIONAL TWENTY PERCENT OFF?!!?
I had to have it. And I did. My total with tax was $217 and I have a remainder of $2 some cents leftover on my gift card. I didn't have to spend a dime! How great is that?!?!
This is the best shot I can do under dark lights. Once I have it on the wall I will snap a better picture during the day.
Not sure when I'll be able to put this up because my Handy Man friend Doug (he has all the tools) is busy this week. But he said he might be able to squeeze me in before end of week.
This is a bit of an older picture - difference now is that there is a print up on the wall by the dining table.
(The couch is from the same store too)

This makes me really happy because now I don't feel like I'm living in an asylum with all white bare walls.
I thought about getting a new rug but I have cats.
And cats like to throw up or shed a lot of fur...this current rug makes it easy to clean up both grossness.
So I might just have to keep the boring rug for now.
I'll post a final shot once it's been put up.
Cross your fingers its before the end of this week. I'm way too excited to wait any longer.
