I've used all types of foundation:
- Clinque Continuous Coverage
- Variety of MAC from Studio Fix Fluid, Mineralized Satinfinish, Select SPF and Studio Sculpt
- Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
- Currently finishing my Chanel Pro Lumiere.
I do LOVE my Chanel Pro Lumiere but it still feels a bit heavy for daily use.
After watching many rave reviews for the NARS Sheer Glow I decided to give it a try.
This won't be a full review until I've worn the foundation for a couple weeks to a month.
I will write a follow up on likes or dislikes about this foundation at a later date.
I went to Nordstrom's and tried to swatch myself at first.
A Make Up Artist for NARS ended up fitting me with a shade she thought matched my skin.
This foundation comes in Sheer Glow or Sheer Matte.
I tried both and ended up liking Sheer Glow more.
I like their shading system.
They have this "global shading" system that breaks down colorings by Light, Medium, Medium-Dark to Dark categories.
From there they break down in groups of 5's for each shade: Light 1, Light 2, Light 3, Light 4, Light 5.
I thought I would be in the medium tone category but turns out I'm the last shade (#5) in the light family, Fiji.
She actually gave me a choice between shade #4 light (Deauville) or #5 light (Fiji) and since I live in California with spring/summer coming up... I opted for a darker (light) shade.
I'm still unsure if this color will be right for me as it looks really light in the bottle & on my hand.
And I dislike department store lighting as everything looks 'even' when you're getting color fitted.
I feel like I should be #1 medium in Ceylan.
But again, the formula is called "sheer glow" so maybe I was fitted with the right shade.
The fun thing about this foundation is it is full coverage!
I'm dislike my skin and how uneven & splotchy certain spots are.
I also have mini freckles that I should embrace as freckles run in my Mom's family, but I don't.
I just want to hide them and make my skin a bare canvas, as much as possible with the help of make up!
This foundation is supposed to minimize skin discoloration and improve my skins luminosity.
Crossing my fingers!
This foundation can be used for normal to dry skin types.
The MA told me it's oil free (big plus).
And fragrance free!
So far I have worn it for two days and haven't had any complaints.
It's been rainy here the past two days so I couldn't really tell if the shade is a match for my skin tone.
Today is the first real sunny day and so far the shade looks correct.
The only real test is taking a picture and seeing if I have a floating head syndrome.
Which of course if I do then back to Nordstrom's to get a different shade. :)
I guess my only gripe about this product has to do with the packaging.
I HATE how there is no pump!
I like pumps.
It's easier for me to control how much to use.
Pricing: $42 for 1.0 Fl Oz. 30 mL
I was paying $52 for my Chanel Pro Lumiere.
So I'm going to give this a try and snap a couple pictures and do a proper review a couple weeks from now.
Stay tuned...

I'm excited to hear how you like the color and foundation :)
I ordered this too last week from Ebay. It's sent from Australia so I'm guessing it will take two weeks before it gets here... :( I got the color Barcelona. I have read that Barcelona is closest to the Mac nw30-35 which is where my skin is usually, but you never know... I hope hope hope it will be a match!
What color are you in Mac and Chanel?
xo :)
Ooh that actually helps me out. I KNEW I shouldn't have been categorized in the light shade. I tan VERY easily without burning in the summer therefore I should have been fitted with a medium shade. My foundation has actually been sitting in my car because I need to exchange it for the correct shade. I wore it for a week and because it's been gloomy weather wise no one could really tell the shade wasn't fit for me. When I took a test picture with the flash my face was SUPER white. Instantly knew that isn't my shade.
I'm going back asking for a different MA to fit me with the right color. I did test Barcelona on my skin but I seemed to be in between either Celayn or Punjab...maybe even Barcelona. I should test that color out since I am NW35 in MAC foundation too. In Chanel I am #40 Beige. Which is the perfect shade for me. If I can't find a shade in NARs I'm going to be very sad. I really like the foundation after wearing it for a week. Thankfully it was in gloomy weather. HAHA Otherwise that would have been embarrassing!
I got my Nars Sheer Glow today in Baarcelona and it's a PERFECT match! I'm so happy, since I've never tried it or swatched it :)
In Chanel Vitalumiere I am a # 40, so if you are too, Barcelona is the color for you. The only difference between the two is that Barcelona is lightly more warm/yellow instead of beigy/pink like the Chanel. Still, it blends in seamlessly on my skin :)
